NHS and private treatment
NHS treatment
NHS treatments and their charges are set by the Scottish Government, with rules about the type and frequency of treatment available. Everyone in Scotland is entitled to free NHS dental examinations, including review examinations. How NHS charges work.
Private treatment
Private treatment includes cosmetic treatment such as tooth whitening, dental implants and white fillings in back teeth. It lets your dentist spend more time with you, and use materials and techniques that aren't available on the NHS, so treatment can be tailored to you. See our fee guide or spread the cost with a plan.
